Founded in 1966, the name of Sze Yuen Company Limited came from Chinese <正陽和氣萬類繁,君王道合天地尊。黎人耕植於義圃,君子翱翔於禮園。落其實者思其樹,飲其流者懷其源。>.
Sze Yuen is a Hong Kong-based multinational group with subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China. In early 2024 the Board of Directors decided to reorganize the Group as Sze Yuen Holding. After the completion of restructuring, the total assets of Sze Yuen is approximately HK$54 billion, with various investments on other international development.
思源有限公司成立於一九六六年,取名自<正陽和氣萬類繁,君王道合天地尊。黎人耕植於義圃,君子翱翔於禮園。落其實者思其樹,飲其流者懷其源。>,固得思源。
經歷超過五十年經營,思源從一間本土公司,發展成一家建基香港的大中華企業,分別在香港﹑澳門和中國大陸有成員公司。經二零二四年董事局決定,公司將重組由將經英屬維京群島(BVI)及香港政府特別行政區(HKSAR)的兩層嵌套式公司控股,完成重組後思源的總資產約為五百四十億港元,並注資其他國家發展。
The former Sze Yuen was a toy manufacturer in Hong Kong in the 1960’s, founded by Mr. Chan Ho (a.k.a. Mr. Elder Chan), father of the Chairman at present, Mr. Alan Chan.
In the beginning of the 1970’s, Mr. Elder Chan spotted that cheap labor force in Hong Kong would be replaced by those in China after the political situation became stable. He resolutely sold the factory, and with his whole life’s savings, purchased land and began the development of detached residential buildings in Hong Kong. At that time, Mr. Elder Chan also realized that Hong Kong would undergo a rapid transformation in the short future, so he sent his elder son, Mr. Alan Chan to study business management in the USA. These then built a career foundation for Mr. Alan Chan later on.
In the early 1980’s, Mr. Alan Chan earned his degree and returned to Hong Kong. He saw that the China market has begun to open up. There was a huge gap in land prices between Hong Kong and China. Lands in China were much cheaper. Alan then decided to invest in China market. Starting from the Guangdong Province in Southern China, he bought land and built small housing estates. Subsequently, Alan extended his real estate development to other major cities in China with a total land valuation exceeding HK$30 billion up until now.
In the 1990’s, Mr. Elder Chan decided to retire and handed the business over to his son, Mr. Alan Chan. Mr. Alan Chan saw that the market of small detached housing estate would be replaced under the rapid growth and transformation of the global economy, he began to concentrate on land investment, cooperating with large and renowned developers in different cities. The decision accelerated the business from housing market to commercial buildings, shopping centers, etc.
In the late 1990’s to the early 21st century, the global financial market was a turmoil, however, the economy was still accelerating. Alan found that a single investment was unable to meet the company's development strategy and had been restructuring the business several times. He started from land-holding cooperative development, in-depth investment to direct operation businesses. Those initially included hotel and retail industry, and financial investment and multi-element business investment in the later state.
The 21st century is the era of people knowing how to enjoy life. Alan made use of retailing as a starting point, turning in creating department store brands and focusing on the medical and health sector. Different kinds of high quality healthcare products were promoted and sold with the utilization of different sources around the world, self-owned factories and OEM products.
In the recent past few years, the economy had changed tremendously due to Covid-19. After the pandemic in 2023, Mr. Alan Chan decided to reorganize the corporate structure. The company was transformed to Sze Yuen Holding and was confirmed by the Broad in early 2024. This strengthens the operation of TARGET2. In the coming years, the Group will cooperate with innovative new technology companies in new technical development.
Sze Yuen will continue rooted in Hong Kong and Greater China whilst looking ahead to Asia and the world.
思源最前身為香港六十年代的一間舊式玩具廠,由現任主席陳尚本先生父親陳豪老先生所創辦。
於七十年末期,陳老先生看准當時香港的廉價勞動力市場,於中國局勢平穏後將會完全被取替;毅然把廠房抵押,並加上畢生積蓄,於香港購買土地,並開始興建當時的單幢式住宅;亦看出香港將會急速轉型,其後把長子陳尚本先生送美留學,主修管理,這兩點為陳尚本先生在後來事業上奠下了不可多得的根基。
陳尚本先生於八十年代末學成回港,看到當時中國已經開始開放,但土地價錢和當時香港相比是以幾十倍或過百倍的差距,便決定嘗試投資中國市場。在廣東省作為起步,購買土地並興建小型屋苑;其後發展至中國各大城市,在各地選擇有潛力發展的土地,至今於大中華各地,擁有的土地估價值超過三百億港元。
於九十年代,陳老先生開始步入半退休狀態,生意開始由陳尚本先生完全接管。陳尚本先生看到全球經濟急速發展,當時的小型屋苑市場將會被取替;便自行集中於土地投資,而由自行興建開始慢慢轉變為和各地發展商合作發展。此決定加速了業務上的發展元素,由屋苑擴大到辦公大樓﹑商場等。
九十年代末到二十一世紀初期,全球性金融市場反覆,但經濟元素卻加速發展。陳尚本先生覺得單一性投資已經不能滿足公司的發展,並將公司業務多次重組,由持有土地合作發展,深入投資至直接運作業務,開始包括有酒店業和零售業;其後發展至金融投資和多元素業務投資。
二十一世紀是一個人民懂得享受生活的年代,陳尚本先生以其零售業務作為起點,繼而創立商場品牌,並關注於醫療健康部份,在全球各地引入資源,自建廠房,或以OEM形式推廣不同的優質商品和醫療健康產品。
過去數年,全球因新冠疫情關係,經濟環境出現巨大變化。於二零二三年疫情穏定後,陳尚本先生策劃重組公司架構,並於二零二四年董事會落實,將其他業務公司轉由集團控股,加強對TARGET2系統運作和與創科公司合作。
思源將一如既往建基於大中華,並迎向亞洲,面對世界。
